Greenwich History
In 1640, Daniel Patrick and Robert Feake purchased land from the Native Americans between the Asamuch and Potommuch brooks, in the area now known as Old Greenwich. The land was claimed by the Dutch and the early settlers of the area agreed to become part of the colony of New Netherland. Greenwich was part of the Dutch colony until 1650. The English and Dutch colonies then agreed to boundary lines which put Greenwich back under the control of the New Haven Colony. Greenwich was incorporated in 1665.
